Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-04-24These terms govern your use of Unmute (the "app"). By creating an account or using Unmute, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. One account per person. You must be at least 13 years old to use Unmute.
Your content
You own the audio you record. Unmute stores it on your behalf. By choosing "Share my voice" on a take, you grant Unmute a non-exclusive licence to display that single take to other users in the community voices feed. Revoke the licence at any time by deleting the shared voice from your history.
Acceptable use
Don't use Unmute to:
- Upload content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, or harasses another person.
- Impersonate someone else or record another person without their consent.
- Scrape or mass-download community voices.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disrupt the service.
Voices that violate these rules may be removed without notice. Accounts that repeatedly violate them may be suspended.
Subscriptions
Unmute is free to start. Optional paid plans unlock unlimited takes, LLM-powered reflection, and priority transcription.
- Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in your device settings (App Store or Play Store), not inside Unmute.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings โ Danger zone โ Delete account. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms. On account deletion, all your data is removed within 30 days, per the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
Unmute is provided "as is". We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Reflections and lessons are for practice only โ they are not professional coaching, therapy, or medical advice.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Unmute and its creators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or by email before taking effect. Continued use of Unmute after a change means you accept the updated terms.
