Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-04-24Unmute is built around the idea that your voice is yours. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and the controls you have over every piece of it.
Information we collect
- Account info: your email address and display name.
- Audio recordings: the voice takes you record. Stored privately in a per-user folder. Never shared unless you choose "Share my voice".
- Session metrics: duration, pause count, filler count, energy โ numbers derived from your own recording. No audio leaves your device unless you finish a take.
- Optional transcripts: only when you enable transcription in settings.
- Subscription status: if you upgrade, your RevenueCat user id and active entitlement.
- Crash reports: anonymised device + stack trace via Firebase Crashlytics.
What we do not collect
We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We do not transcribe your audio unless you turn transcription on. We do not share your recordings with other users or the community feed unless you explicitly tap "Share my voice" on a take.
Sharing a voice
When you choose to share a take, Unmute publishes an anonymised version of it to the voices feed. That means a 1โ2 character handle, the audio, the prompt, and the lesson โ but not your name, email, or user id. You can delete a shared voice at any time from the history screen.
Third-party services
- Supabase โ authentication, database, and private audio storage (hosted on AWS). See Supabase privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics โ crash diagnostics (anonymised). See Firebase privacy policy.
- RevenueCat โ subscription receipt validation. See RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) โ optional cloud coach for the reflection card. Only the session's metrics and (if enabled) transcript are sent. Content is not used for model training.
Your rights
From inside the app you can:
- Download your data (Settings โ Data & privacy โ Export)
- Delete a single take or a shared voice
- Delete your entire account and all associated audio (Settings โ Danger zone โ Delete account). This is irreversible.
If you cannot access the app, email support@unmute.myind.ai from your account email and we will handle deletion within 48 hours.
Data retention
Your data stays in Unmute for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, every recording, transcript, shared voice, and metric is hard-deleted from our database and storage within 30 days.
Children
Unmute is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
